"It's a mistake to get too deep into these things..."

Quote from the film, "Into the Wild," part of the first presentation in the Panel on "Where the Wild Things Are: Locating Wildness in Place, Experience, and Discourse", facilitated by Brett Ingram.

ruptures and the emergence of the primitive

An interesting observation that Rey Chow has made, that we (particularly men?) are drawn to the primitive more frequently during times of rupture. This invites the question, why is there an increase in uses of/talk about the primitive now? And, if this is indicative of a rupture now, what do - or what can we do - about it?

what/where is "the wild" in this conference?

What maps are we using to avoid/navigate this terrain? Is wildness welcome? Banished? A threat? A promise?
